I am an IVF Coordinator. I work directly with patients in the clinic and also work behind the scenes to make their cycles happen. I do lots of things not directly related to IVF as well–we call them “low tech cycles”–still a lot of technology, but not as much as IVF.
How do you explain your job to people who’ve never heard of it?
I help take care of people who need help with something fertility related–drawing blood, teaching how to give injections, explaining IVF cycles, working to get all their medications ordered and arriving at the right time and right place.
What led you to work in Patient Care?
I like working directly with people. Interacting with patients makes me happy.
Is there a particular patient or case that stands out for you? Why?
I love working with people to grow their families, but I am especially honored to help people who have had very long journeys.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in California, but I’ve lived in the Puget Sound area for more than 30 years.
What fills your time when you are not at work?
I enjoy reading and listening to podcasts, driving fast cars, and playing video games with my son.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
I want to stay in a little villa on stilts over the clear blue tropical ocean.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would probably return to being a midwife and catching babies. I enjoy working during the day, though, so it would be a hard switch!

What is your role/what do you do at Sound Fertility Care?
I’m a Physician Assistant (PA).
How do you explain your job to people who’ve never heard of it?
I’m a medical provider acting as an extension to Dr. Lin to help evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients.
What led you to work in this field?
In my previous work in endocrinology, I interacted with many patients from fertility clinics. I enjoyed these interactions and was offered the opportunity to continue learning more about reproductive endocrinology and infertility with Dr. Lin.
Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
What brought you to Seattle?
I visited Seattle in 2014 and fell in love with the city – especially the beautiful nature! The timing worked out great for my husband and I to move here the summer of 2018.
What fills your time when you are not at work? I enjoy checking out restaurants and desserts, watching musicals/shows, and running. I’m also trying different things, from snowboarding to planting.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Japan or Iceland!

I’m the Andrology Lab Supervisor.
How do you explain your job to people who’ve never heard of it?
Andrology refers to the “male half” of fertility treatments, so I handle all of the sperm work, as well as a lot of bloodwork and general laboratory duties.
What led you to work in this field?
Originally, I was on track to be a wildlife biologist, but I got into the fertility field kind of by chance. I stayed because I love the constant scientific advancements that are being made, as well as the opportunity to change people’s lives for the better, forever.
Where did you grow up?
Valparaiso, Indiana – home of Orville Redenbacher’s first popcorn factory!
What brought you to Seattle?
Seattle has the perfect combination of big city activities and culture, surrounded by beautiful wilderness.
What fills your time when you are not at work?
Hiking, kayaking, cooking, as well as watching endless episodes of Seinfeld and Frasier.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
Elsa Pataky.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
This answer changes almost daily–today I’d like to go to Greece.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
National Geographic wildlife photographer!

I am an IVF coordinator at Sound Fertility Care.
How do you explain your job to people who’ve never heard of it?
This is a job where I am privileged to help new families grow.
What led you to work in this field?
In the past, I was a Labor and Delivery nurse and though I loved it, I was always curious about the other side of conception and I am very fascinated about fetal development. I have always and will always enjoy caring for people and their families. I wanted to expand my knowledge and my experiences; I believe this is what led me into this new career.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii.
What brought you to Seattle?
Even though Hawaii is probably the most beautiful place you can ever live, I decided to move to Seattle because I wanted to see more. I have since made an extremely satisfying life here. I have a lazy dog, a sassy cat, and a supportive life partner.
What fills your time when you are not at work?
In my free time I like to paint, clean my house (because I enjoy it), take trips in my camper van, and cook good food.
